Grace Not to Lose Focus

2 Samuel 11:1-4 (NIV)
In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out … and the whole Israelite army… But David remained in Jerusalem. One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her... Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her…Then she went back home.

Our text above fails to explain why David chose to stay home when he was supposed to be out on the field. However, it does reveal that that choice amounted to a wrong decision. This year, you will experience great success in every area of your life and your success will not cause you to lose focus. You will remain committed and consistent in doing the right things. You will not become proud, conceited and complacent. You will remain humble and fervent. You will not become careless and insensitive; you will remain watchful and diligent. The grace to remain focused as you make progress this year is upon you in the name of Jesus. You will express gratitude to God for your successes and achievements, but they will not cause you to feel as if you have arrived.

You will continue to press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God for you in Christ Jesus, Phil.3:12-14. Your path will be a shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto a perfect day, Prov.4:18. You will continue to behold Christ's glory and you will continue to be transformed from glory to glory by the Spirit, 2Cor.3:18. God always has far greater things ahead of you, child of God. Things that eyes have not seen, ears have not heard and minds have not imagined. As you remain focused and committed to Him, He will bring you into those things. You shall not lose focus this year. You shall hit and exceed your targets.

PRAYER FOCUS: Dear Lord, I receive Your grace to remain focused on You and to keep pressing forward in every area of my life this year.
