Grace for Extra Diligence
Hebrews 2:1-3 (GNB)
That is why we must hold on all the more firmly to the truths we have heard, so that we will not be carried away. The message given to our ancestors by the angels was shown to be true, and those who did not follow it or obey it received the punishment they deserved. How, then, shall we escape if we pay no attention to such a great salvation? The Lord himself first announced this salvation, and those who heard him proved to us that it is true.

There is so much glory, power and potential in our faith and walk with God. Our text above describes our salvation as a 'great salvation' brought about by our Lord Jesus Himself. In Hebrews 8:6, the Bible describes our covenant as a 'better covenant' established upon better promises. Apostle Paul described the Old Covenant as the 'ministration of death,' while he described the New Covenant which Christ has brought us into as 'the ministration of the Spirit that gives life.' He said the glory of the New Covenant far outweighs the glory of the Old Covenant, 2Cor.3:6-11. Jesus also said that the least of us in the kingdom is greater than John the Baptist, who He referred to as being greater than the greatest people we know in the Old Testament, Matt.11:11.
In order not to miss out on the far greater glory contained in our more glorious covenant, we must remain even more diligent in our faith and walk with God than the people of the Old Testament were. We must stop seeing and treating the word of God as if it were the words of a man, 1Thes.2:13. Jesus referred to His words as 'spirit' and 'life,' John 6:63. Like the Berean believers, after we are taught God's Word we must go back home to verify and study it for ourselves, Acts 17:11. We must continue to meditate upon the word of God and give ourselves wholly to it so that our profit (results and progress) will manifest for all to see, 1Tim.4:15. We must give ourselves to prayer, especially prayers based on the revelation of Christ and we must pray consistently in the Spirit. Let us press into deeper realms in God.
PRAYER: Tell God that you desire to press into deeper realms in Him. Thank Him for the grace to be extra diligent in your walk with Him.
