Do Not Forget Who You Are
James 1:23-25 (GNB)
If you listen to the word, but do not put it into practice you are like people who look in a mirror and see themselves as they are. They take a good look at themselves and then go away and at once forget what they look like. But if you look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, and keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice---you will be blessed by God in what you do.

------------------------------------------------------
Different people and situations repeatedly hold up varying mirrors to us every day. Every day, we get different reflections of what our worth and our identities are, especially those based on this world's standards of prosperity and success. At the same time, God, who is your Father and Creator, is consistently reflecting to you the real picture and image of yourself. He reflects this image to you through His word. What God is saying about who you are is far greater and more important than what anybody or any situation may be saying about you; no matter how influential or convincing the person or situation may be.
Beloved, do not be caged by any other reflected image of yourself. Set yourself free from them by continuing to look closely and paying attention to God's perfect definition of who you are. If you do this, it will affect how you carry yourself and how you act and as you act in line with who God says you are, you will activate the grace and blessings of God in your life. God calls things that be not as though they are because He has made them so already in the Spirit, Rom.4:17. You are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Eph.1:3. You can do all things through Christ that strengthens you, Phil.4:13. You are not trying to succeed; you are a success. God does not create failures. You are one with Christ and Christ is not a failure. Do not ever forget who you are for any reason. By the Spirit, you will remember who and whose you are and you will manifest your true nature.
PRAYER: Ask God to fill your heart with a fresh revelation of all He has made you in Christ. Declare these things to yourself. Receive God's grace to always remember and act in line with them.
